Add Virgin Coconut Oil and/or Coconut Foods to Your Diet Try to Eat Some Every Day
If you like coconut oil and/or coconut products, try adding some of them to your diet, as the oil in the coconut has been shown to boost metabolism.
Dr. Mary Enig and Sally Fallon in their book “Eat Fat, Lose Fat,” recommend the following amounts in a mug of hot water or herbal (or green) tea, 20 minutes before you eat:

Even Small Amounts of Coconut Oil Can Boost Metabolism
We realize that this is a lot of coconut oil, and not everyone can or will want to consume this much coconut oil. However, adding even small amounts to the diet has been shown to increase the metabolism. If you decide to add a lot of coconut oil to your diet, we recommend starting with no more than ½ of the above dose, or even ¼ if you have other health problems, and then slowly increase (within 1-2 weeks) to the recommended dosage. The lauric acid in coconut oil is anti-microbial and can kill viruses and other bugs you may have. If this happens too quickly, you may experience some side effects.
If you really don’t like taking the coconut oil this way, you can melt it if it is solid, and just add it to your food with your meal. But having it ahead of time will usually help you to be less hungry at mealtimes and to consequently eat less.
