Superfoods, Cravings and Weight Loss Do Supplements Have a Place in Your Diet?
We recommend certain supplements as an adjunct to your weight loss program for several reasons. First, since many of us are deficient in certain nutrients from years, or even decades of eating less than optimal refined foods, supplements can really help us to build back up our nutrient reserves. Second, much of our food, even when organic or whole foods are consumed, is grown in mineral-deficient soils, and transported long ways before it gets to us.
Most of us Missing Nutrients In Our Diet
This means that even if you are eating a whole food, unrefined diet, your foods are in all likelihood missing minerals, and also vitamins, especially antioxidants, that are necessary to health & vitality. In addition, most of us are not eating a 100% whole food diet, and every time you eat some packaged foods or white flour or sugar, you are missing nutrients.
Chemicals Create Greater Need for Nutrients, Especially Antioxidants
Last, but not least, our world today is filled with chemicals that create free radicals and demand increased micronutrients in order for our bodies to deal with them and neutralize them. Even if you eat 100% organic foods (and who does), have a good water filter like the CuZn brand, and maybe even an air filter to purify the air in your home, you will still be exposed to chemicals. Even if your house is 100% green and non-toxic, (and most of our homes are far from it!), you probably go out shopping or to a place of employment that exposes you to chemicals. Almost all fragrances today are made from petrochemicals, for example. This increased chemical exposure necessitates an increase in antioxidants and other vitamins and nutrients to help your body deal with these toxins so you don't get sick.
