Whole Grains In Diet Provide Many Vitamins & Minerals

Whole grains provide many vitamins and minerals in abundance, most notably the B and E vitamins, and minerals such as magnesium and zinc.  B vitamins are very important to the function of the nervous system, as well as a key in metabolizing fats, carbohydrates and proteins.  They also help keep your energy high.  The Vitamin E complex has been shown to be protective against heart disease, aging, cancer, fatigue and skin problems.  Magnesium is a critical mineral for many things, such as nerve  & nervous system function, blood pressure,  carbohydrate and vitamin & mineral metabolism, tooth and bone formation, heart & kidney health and more.  Zinc helps form insulin, and is important in land, sexual & reproductive health.  It is also critical to good immune system functioning good brain health.

Refined Grains are Devoid of Many Nutrients

When whole grains are refined, like with white flour and white rice, most of the vitamins and minerals, as well as the fiber, are removed.  Some of the B vitamins and some iron is added back in to the refined product.  Or rather, a synthetic form of some of the B vitamins are put into the refined product.  Most synthetic B vitamins are made from a coal tar derivative.  In addition, vitamins B1 and B2 added to grains with vitamin B6 can lead to many other problems and imbalances.  Some studies have linked excess or toxic iron to heart disease, that you may get from eating fortified refined grains.

If you want to get healthy or stay healthy, refined grains have no place in your diet.
