Most of us not only don’t eat much nutrient dense foods, but according to studies, we spend over 90% of our food dollars on processed foods that are full of sugar, high fructose corn syrup, trans fatty acids, excitotoxins like MSG and refined oils.  No wonder as a country we are gaining weight.  We have to eat far more of these nutrient-poor processed foods in order to get even minimal levels of the micronutrients our body needs to survive.   We certainly aren’t getting optimal levels, however, by eating processed foods.
