Although the diet we are promoting here is much like many of our ancestors ate, with whole foods, including meat and saturated fats, along with whole grains, vegetables, and fruits, we cannot discount the fact that many people seem to have experienced much healing with macrobiotic diets. Hence we wanted to briefly discuss the macrobiotic diet, in case it’s something that might help you in your quest for health and a healthy weight.
Macrobiotic Diet is Detoxifying
The macrobiotic diet is very detoxifying, and as such, may help those of you whose health or weight is stuck due to an excess of toxins. Another useful thing about the macrobiotic diet is that even if you switch to eating predominantly organic foods, you will still in all likelihood save money. Many people have experienced remarkable benefits to their health with even short periods, such as 3 months, on the macrobiotic diet. And they have certainly lost weight. In fact, it appears that part of what make the macrobiotic diet so healing is that you do lose a lot of fat, and along with the fat, the toxins that are stored in the fat.
Strict Macrobiotic Diet May Be Lacking Nutrients
If, however, you decide to follow the macrobiotic diet for any length of time, we do recommend that you consult your licensed healthcare practitioner or a macrobiotic counselor, as a strict macrobiotic diet can be lacking in certain nutrients that come from animal products. We do not recommend a strict macrobiotic diet for children, as we don’t think it provides enough calories, protein, or fat that growing children need.
