Foods To Eat

What Foods Do You Eat
When You Are Trying To Diet?

There are lots of good foods to eat, even when you are trying to lose weight.  They might just be a little different than you’ve heard about lately.  We recommend that instead of eating diet foods, you trying to go back to eating like our ancestors did.  Weston Price found in his research that many native peoples who ate their traditional diet were far more healthy than we are today in America.  They ate whole foods, and depending on the population group, their foods did vary in their diet.  However, Weston Price found that the more of the fat-soluble vitamins they consumed in their diet, the healthier they were.

People Traditionally Consumed 10 Times the Fat Soluble Vitamins From Foods in Their Diet

When he analyzed the vitamin content of their food, he found that they often consumed over 10 times the amount of vitamins in people’s diets of his day, which was way back in the 1930’s.  This means 10 times the vitamin A, D and K.  The richest sources of these fat soluble vitamins in our diets come from animals foods, especially those with lots of fat in them (“fat” soluble vitamins are carried in the fat, and also need this fat to help our bodies utilized these vitamins).  This would be foods like butter, cream, many seafoods like shrimp, salmon and more, full-fat yogurt and cheese, beef, liver and things like that.  Are you eating plenty of these foods in your diet today?  Most of us are not, but the people that Weston Price studied were, and he found virtually none of the chronic, degenerative diseases that are common today, such as heart disease, cancer, allergies, dental cavities, gum disease and more.

90% of the Food Dollars In Our Diets Are Spent on Processed Foods

Today over 90% of our food dollars go towards processed, refined foods with added sugar, high fructose corn syrup, MSG and refined vegetables oils with trans-fatty acids.  We have enormous choice in food products:  the average supermarket carries over 50,000 items today (mostly highly processed), vs about 200 items about 50 years ago.  Most of these items come from 1000’s of miles away, instead of coming from a 100 mile radius, like our food did no so long ago.
